Areas of Expertise
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Washington, DC, Virginia, and North Carolina, and a Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC). I have dual masters degrees in counseling and art therapy from New York University, and two decades of therapeutic practice and post graduate training.
Clients
Some clients may describe themselves as people-pleasers, over-thinkers, perfectionists, and super-sensitives. In our work together, you can find the freedom to let go of the perfection, the unyielding grip of trying to control, the overwhelm and “what ifs,” and delight in what happens when you feel secure in trusting and loving your most authentic self. In this process, you will be guided to make peace with your anger, answer your confusion, calm your fears, and comfort your heartache.
Somatic Experiencing
Chronic activation of the "flight fight freeze" response in the nervous system impacts our relationships, self-esteem, stress levels, overall functioning and happiness. Somatic Experiencing is a body-oriented approach to healing (not just coping) that supports clients in resolving the nervous system patterns that cause pain and suffering.

Somatic Experiencing helps people feel calm and more balanced, process and release traumatic experiences, navigate difficult emotions and experiences with more ease, and improve quality of life.

Therapy
Therapy is a collaborative process for self-exploration that promotes emotional healing. There will be space for all parts of you here. Together we will identify the root causes contributing to your current patterns of pain, renegotiate and shift how you respond to these "triggers" in your current experience, and empower you with new coping strategies and resources so you no longer feel stuck, anxious, and overwhelmed.
Adoption
Adoption is part of my family's story and it is an honor for me to work with families touched by adoption. I support people
experiencing infertility, considering adoption, and adopting a baby or child. I work with adoptive parents supporting attachment & family dynamics, building cultural competency, and navigating the ups and downs of parenting. I also work with adult adoptees and their unique experiences that may or may not be impacted by their own adoption.
